In 1912, King Wilhelm II of Württemberg instituted the Staatliche Landeswasserversorgung or state water supply. It was operated for 53 years as a state-owned company. In 1965, the Landeswasserversorgung was converted into an independent communal special purpose association. Since this happened, the association members of the Landeswasserversorgung are not only customers, but also the owners of the water supply company.
